March 31st- Deep Thoughts

The last day of March. It was a cool rainy day here in San Mateo today. Ella and I spent it resting and then chatting. She spends her awake time looking deeply at things. I can't help but wonder what she is thinking about and what she is seeing. All those networks forming in that brain. 

Before last night we hated having her arms wrapped when she was swaddled. Lately she has been waking herself up by whacking herself in the face. Last night I swaddled her with her arms in and she slept for 3 hours.

March 29th- 1 month and 3 days

This pretty much sums up our Saturday. We used it to catch up on sleep. Life is much better after a day of catching up on sleep.

March 28th- 1 Month and 2 days

We are getting ready for some fun in the sun. Our order of UV blankets and sun hats came to day. Ella also got her first rash guard. I can't wait to put her in it. We are ready to play outside. Beaker had to get in on the sun protection too. 

March 27th- Sleepless

As you can see we had a little fail in the emails this week. Ella did a major pattern change on Thursday evening. Not taking an afternoon/evening nap so she was awake for a 6 hour stretch. The LONGEST we had ever seen her awake. She slept only an hour at a time that night and woke up at 4am AWAKE. Bless Matt for taking her until 5:30 when we switched and I got her to take a little nap again. We have worked out a better schedule now and we are sleeping much better. 

Ella loves taking baths. Excuse the nudie shot (hehe) but look at that face. She is too cute. I can't wait to get her in the pool. 

March 26th 1 Month Old!

Ella is one month old today. * (Matt has to add that it was a short month.) 

It has flown by and I can't believe how much she has grown. 

March 25th (28 days)

So you have to actually write the email and push send to share photos. Hummm who knew.  I will use the excuse that Tuesday was the day we took Pop Pop to the airport and then was ALONE for the rest of the day. 

So I will do two! Today. Mostly because she was really cute today. We spent some time on our tummies this afternoon. When Ella does really crawl she will be a rock star because Beaker tries to help. And by help he stands on her. (We stopped it quickly.) It was a good workout, you can tell by the faces.

Sunday and Monday combined! Sorry.

March 22nd- Buddies

Beaker and Ella!!! They spent some good time on the sofa together today talking about all sorts of things. It was fun to watch Ella kick her feet as Beaker tried to lick them. :) 

Matt and Dad (Pop Pop) went sailing today and Ella and I spent the day alone. Kate came and visited us for lunch (and so I could take a shower) and we had a nice visit. But we made it through. The last picture shows how much the kids missed daddy. 

March 21st- Ella Day 24

 I have no clue what happened to yesterday. But here is an email to make up for yesterday. 

Still blue eyed. I keep my hopes up that Ella will really have blue eyes. She looks so much like Matt that I just want a little of me in there. The shape is mine and her eyelashes are starting to curl (like Uncle Ross').

March 20th-Super model poses and new friends- Ella Day 23

Happy Thursday! Hope you all had a great first day of spring. Today Ella was awake most of the morning. She happily hung out in her crib checking out the blue walls and talking to her giraffes. She loves the singing giraffe and this was her first introduction to her lovie giraffe. She looked at it for a long time. It was adorable. 

March 19th- Ella Day 22- Half Moon Bay Lunch

What a beautiful day! The weather was wonderful so we took Ross and Bill to the beach to have lunch and take a walk. It was lovely. Ella slept through lunch (which was delish!) and then enjoyed the walk with her Daddy. 

March 18th- 21 Days Old

Much better night last night! We are learning the difference between night and day. Ella was awake for much longer stretches today. Talking with everyone, watching the birds with Pop Pop and trying out some tummy with Daddy and Beaker. Matt even took her on an adventure into the backyard to check out the shadows from the trees. She loves it outside. Definitely our child. 

Matt decided that we needed sushi lunch today and while I was in the shower he changed Ella's diaper and outfit to go out. He put her in her shark onesie for the occasion. The bow and mary jane shoe socks were to help ID her as a girl :) 

Tummy time photos will be a special addition tomorrow. They are too complicated to attach tonight.

March 17th- Day 20 (St. Paddy's Day)

Well we don't have an official St. Paddy's Day outfit but we did find something with some green in it. (Thank you Grandma!) Little miss has certainly found her voice and works it out pretty regularly. Early on Matt told her if she kept sleeping like a champ she could have a car when she turned 16. I think she lost that car last night when she wouldn't sleep for over two hours. Matt walked her, rocked her, put her in her swing. I fed her, rocked her and nothing would get her back to sleep. Finally she screamed herself out and we all slept for the next 4 hours. Thank goodness. :) Pop-Pop (Bill) granted us all good naps today. But all in all we are still doing really well.

March 16th -Day 19

We have been to church two weeks in a row now and Ella has slept through both days. Everyone there thinks she is the sweetest. They aren't wrong.  

March 15th- 18 days old

Today Pop Pop (Bill) arrived from Ohio. The day flew by and Ella also attended her first birthday party. No party pictures, I have no clue why we didn't take them. But here is the shot for Saturday, Ella with her Pop Pop

March 14th- 17 days old

Today Ella and I went on an adventure by ourselves!!! I even drove. We introduce Ella to the ladies of the 10am swim. She slept through a squealing locker room. What a rock star. Mom and I went to lunch after and returned a few things at the mall. All and all a good day.

But that is the sleep mask Matt was wearing when he slept at the hospital. 

March 13th- 16 Days Old

It's amazing that taking a 9lb. baby with you doubles the time.  It use to take me 30 mins to get ready, it took Matt and I an hour and a half to get ready today. Oh well we still made it to my doctors appointment on time. 

March 12th - Two Weeks Old

Happy 2 week birthday Miss Ella. In celebration of her birth and in a great step forward in my recovery we went to the beach today. We took a little walk on the sand, Beaker ran around in heaven, and then we all had lunch looking out over the ocean. 

We have a few beach photos but Ella in the Moby wrap is hard to see. It was much too sunny and waves were too big to dip her toes in the water but it will happen soon. Also included is Ella in her car seat the day we brought her home from the hospital and today, a 12 day difference. It is shocking how much she has grown. We had to change the straps in the car seat to a taller level today.

March 11th - Day 14

Today is a series of Matt and Ella from today. She's discovering the world and having a bit of a struggle with it, he is being a super dad.
